Lunar Line up initial drawings

These are the initial drawings i did for the line up for my lunar collection im currently marketing for my new project.
I prefer the top set of designs to the bottom, but mixed in I think they'd work well together.

Location Decision

After a ridiculous amount of fannying around trying to decide on a location for my fashion event I finally decided to host my event at Potters Field Park.

I decided that rather than try and find a suitable building to house my event i will be constructing the building myself, to resemble the house of the future that was the starting point and inspiration for my collection.

This is a more difficult way to go about doing my event but i felt it was the only option to be satisfied with the building to house my collection. I specifically chose potters field as it is pretty much central london and has quite an eclectic mix of buildings in the background. One side you have London Bridge and on the other there is the design museum.

They'll be more ideas on the building and floor plan of my event in the coming posts. I was thinking of keeping the exterior quite retro whereas the interior could be a bit more modern.

JC De Castelbajac

I think this man has actually tapped into my brain.
He seems to produce everything I love about fashion into everything he makes... Its ridiculously colourful, very jazzy and so fun.
I feel a new obsession forming
I REALLY WANT THE CLOWN OUTFIT

Market for my collection

Hopefully from this picture you can get a jist of who i'm aiming my collection and my product at, I did find it quite difficult to be specific about who my target market were. I'm sort of aiming for people that need something different and, i hate using this word, "edgy" to wear on a night out, probably to an "edgy" nightclub with their "edgy" friends.
Urrrgh I hate edgy.
But thats basically what I'm aiming for. Something good did come out of all this edginess though I discovered an amazing designer J.C De Castelbajac. I'm pretty much in love with him... prepare for a post bumming him to follow.

Monday

Video Workshop

This is the video I made during the video making workshop, considering i felt awful this day and spent most of the tutorial sleeping i feel that this video is pretty successful
I'm looking forward to making my own video for the final presentation though im not too sure yet what i can film myself.

Sunday

To be quite honest, I need to sort my life out

I've started feeling like I'm caring less and less about my work recently, and to be fair this needs to change quite swiftly before i end up completely flunking this whole year.

I 've had quite alot of things go on in my home life recently that I think have really gotten to me, which is understandable. I'm not going to mention what they are but they are pretty big. I'm not a person who shows there emotions atall really and instead of having a good cry about it I seem to have chanelled it all into getting into ridiculous states and staying up for 24hours straight partying.

As much fun as this all is its starting to have an impact on my health, its taken a couple of friends pointing out that they were really quite worried for me to see that my lifestyle at the moment needs to change.

So goodbye going out atleast twice a week, getting completely wrecked and staying up till 9am the next day.. and hello to chanelling all of this enthusiasm and excitement into my work.

Lets see how long it'll last...

Monsanto House of the future

This is a video of my original inspiration for my collection and the event and marketing that goes along with it.
This video really interests me its really weird to thing that not so long ago even pressing buttons to dial a telephone was something that was considered futuristic technology.
I may use some of this footage for my final video as it would be a bit difficult to film anything relevant to my concept myself.

New Project

I was so optimistic at the begining of this project, it was something a bit different we got to make up n event and everything behing it for a collection.
But as per my enthusiasm for this project has all but dissapered. I like the idea of the project dont get me wrong, i just feel like every sheet im producing looks absolutely awful. I think maybe its because you can't really include that many pictures on the sheets and i'm used to working towards producing a garment, its definately an unknown territory way of working, for me anyway.
I did however try to work towards some of my final decision sheets on photoshop yesterday, even though i clearly haven't made all of my decisions yet they do look alot better than what i've been producing so far, and considering they account for a larger chunk of the mark than the reserch sheets then maybe i won't have completely messed up this project.

On another things are looking up note, I got my marks back for the last project a couple of weeks ago and I got 65%.
Definately an improvement on my last mark, nice and safe inside the 2:1 bubble again...

some illustrator things

Here are a few of my more successful illustrator experiments from the digital realisation techniques project, I liked using illustrator in this project as it gave more of a freedom in the drawing aspect of the program when compared to photoshop.
It does however take a fairly long time to produce something professional looking.

Monday

Something interesting to get me back on track

I stumbled cross this project when i was research for the new project, don't ask how as it has nothing to do with digital fashion illustration atall!
They are from a project called project white t-shirt, 31 designers were asked to redesign the simplest of clothing items the white t-shirt.
This is how the website describes its concept
"This is not a T-shirt design contest. Rather, Project White T-Shirt aims to transform a plain white T-shirt into something more. The designer can turn the shirt into furniture, equipment, electronics, a bicycle—-anything they want, however they want. They will transform and redefine the definition of the T-shirt as we’ve understood it for so many decades.

We often wonder, with so many innovators in the fashion industry, why do only a few challenge the fundamental forms of fashion? Why can’t fashion transcend the limits of clothing as form, and become architecture, music, object, and so many other boundless forms? It’s time to turn our curiosity into action and begin our fashion (R)evolution. Let’s start with the classic white T-shirt"
I find this concept really interesting especially when it considers why fashion can't transcend into other forms such as architecture and object.
The images above are a few of the more "fashiony" pieces, i especially like the top one which is by hong kong label creature de keis.
The website gave a short bio on designer kei hui and his work

"Designer Kei Hui is one of the few pioneers in Hong Kong seeking to break through typical convention and pursue an innovative aesthetic. He originally studied the delicate art of creating cheongsam (a type of traditional Chinese clothing) but later established Créature de Keis, a forward-thinking label that he used to experiment with shape and deconstruction of clothing. For Project White T-Shirt, Kei Hui designed a three-in-one t-shirt incorporating small, medium, and large sizes, each creating a different effect when worn. When wearing the middle size, one can pull up the two t-shirts at the side as sleeves; when wearing either of the other sides, different shapes can also be made with the remaining shirts."
I like the idea of him using the 3 different sized t-shirts to create his garment, and also the fact that you can wear it different ways.

Dissapointing start to the term!

So we got our marks back for innovative cut today.
I didn't do aswell as I hoped i'd do atall! Infact I think I got the lowest mark I have ever got!
I know it wasn't as good as my last project, but i think it deserved more than 54%

I could easily dwell on this and have a big rant about other peoples work not being as good as mine but them getting a higher mark, or them never coming in and putting zero effort in and them still getting the same or even a better mark...
but.. theres not really much point I can't exactly do anything about it can I!?
I think all that remains to be done is to get very drunk and forget about it.

In other news however... by some miracle I got 60% in my elective
I'm pretty pleased with that considering by the end i'd gone so far beyond caring what i was handing in, and i had a fair bit of drama going on in my personal life .. i found it near to impossible to concentrate on any sort of work.
Maybe this shows i work better when i have a load of other things going on, or when i don't care... either that or our elective tutor is just a very generous marker! ha.

Friday

Some resolutions

If were being honest I'm NEVER going to stick to any of these but its nice to know I've atleast given it some sort of an effort.
So here it goes...

1. I need to be more sensible with my money! and stop spending it on sandwhiches in college when its clearly cheaper to make some lunch at home and bring it in.
2. I'd quite like to be less laid back, i'm quite chilled when it comes to deadlines which i think is sometimes misinterpreted as not caring. I feel if i stressed a bit more my work would possibly improve.
3. To start making more of my own clothes that don't have anything to do with uni work.
4. To cut out anyone/thing that brings uneeded drama in my life, after the ridiculous unnesecery stresses and dramas of last term I'd like a few months where things go a bit more my way. This includes minimal contact with certain people. Urrgh
5. Getting another job aswell would be quite nice.. i can't deal with the cold!

Wednesday

Dolores Vintage

So for our enterprise project me, Sarah and Natalie have come with an idea of renting vintage designer clothing to people.
After a bit of confusion in our 2nd presentation, Angie set us straight and seemed to like our idea. Obviously this idea is just hyperthetical, but we wanted to do something similar for real. We decided just simply to set up a vintage clothing buisness called Dolores Vintage.
We had a photo shoot with some of our stock, these photos were kindly taken by my old flatmate Jayde who is a photography student. The photos above are my favourite ones that were taken that day.
If you like the look of dolores you can follow our blog http://www.wearedolores.blogspot.com or we have a facebook fan page you can become a fan of, just sear dolores vintage on facebook.

Tuesday

I'd like to be Pam Hogg Please

Is there anything this woman does not do?

Shes an artist, singer fashion designer and has probably had more hair colours than i have!

And just look at those lycra all in ones.
I definately need one!

New Year New Start

So I've decided to set up a new blog for a new year.
The main reason being I was awful at posting in my old blog and still using it hasn't helped me post in it this year which i really need to do!

I haven't posted in my old blog for about 3 months, so theres a bit of a back log of 2 projects worth of stuff that i need to post which I'll try and do asap.
For the meantime though I'll just keep up to date with this term onwards in here.
