Something interesting to get me back on track

I stumbled cross this project when i was research for the new project, don't ask how as it has nothing to do with digital fashion illustration atall!
They are from a project called project white t-shirt, 31 designers were asked to redesign the simplest of clothing items the white t-shirt.
This is how the website describes its concept
"This is not a T-shirt design contest. Rather, Project White T-Shirt aims to transform a plain white T-shirt into something more. The designer can turn the shirt into furniture, equipment, electronics, a bicycle—-anything they want, however they want. They will transform and redefine the definition of the T-shirt as we’ve understood it for so many decades.

We often wonder, with so many innovators in the fashion industry, why do only a few challenge the fundamental forms of fashion? Why can’t fashion transcend the limits of clothing as form, and become architecture, music, object, and so many other boundless forms? It’s time to turn our curiosity into action and begin our fashion (R)evolution. Let’s start with the classic white T-shirt"
I find this concept really interesting especially when it considers why fashion can't transcend into other forms such as architecture and object.
The images above are a few of the more "fashiony" pieces, i especially like the top one which is by hong kong label creature de keis.
The website gave a short bio on designer kei hui and his work

"Designer Kei Hui is one of the few pioneers in Hong Kong seeking to break through typical convention and pursue an innovative aesthetic. He originally studied the delicate art of creating cheongsam (a type of traditional Chinese clothing) but later established Créature de Keis, a forward-thinking label that he used to experiment with shape and deconstruction of clothing. For Project White T-Shirt, Kei Hui designed a three-in-one t-shirt incorporating small, medium, and large sizes, each creating a different effect when worn. When wearing the middle size, one can pull up the two t-shirts at the side as sleeves; when wearing either of the other sides, different shapes can also be made with the remaining shirts."
I like the idea of him using the 3 different sized t-shirts to create his garment, and also the fact that you can wear it different ways.

Dissapointing start to the term!

So we got our marks back for innovative cut today.
I didn't do aswell as I hoped i'd do atall! Infact I think I got the lowest mark I have ever got!
I know it wasn't as good as my last project, but i think it deserved more than 54%

I could easily dwell on this and have a big rant about other peoples work not being as good as mine but them getting a higher mark, or them never coming in and putting zero effort in and them still getting the same or even a better mark...
but.. theres not really much point I can't exactly do anything about it can I!?
I think all that remains to be done is to get very drunk and forget about it.

In other news however... by some miracle I got 60% in my elective
I'm pretty pleased with that considering by the end i'd gone so far beyond caring what i was handing in, and i had a fair bit of drama going on in my personal life .. i found it near to impossible to concentrate on any sort of work.
Maybe this shows i work better when i have a load of other things going on, or when i don't care... either that or our elective tutor is just a very generous marker! ha.

Friday

Some resolutions

If were being honest I'm NEVER going to stick to any of these but its nice to know I've atleast given it some sort of an effort.
So here it goes...

1. I need to be more sensible with my money! and stop spending it on sandwhiches in college when its clearly cheaper to make some lunch at home and bring it in.
2. I'd quite like to be less laid back, i'm quite chilled when it comes to deadlines which i think is sometimes misinterpreted as not caring. I feel if i stressed a bit more my work would possibly improve.
3. To start making more of my own clothes that don't have anything to do with uni work.
4. To cut out anyone/thing that brings uneeded drama in my life, after the ridiculous unnesecery stresses and dramas of last term I'd like a few months where things go a bit more my way. This includes minimal contact with certain people. Urrgh
5. Getting another job aswell would be quite nice.. i can't deal with the cold!

Wednesday

Dolores Vintage

So for our enterprise project me, Sarah and Natalie have come with an idea of renting vintage designer clothing to people.
After a bit of confusion in our 2nd presentation, Angie set us straight and seemed to like our idea. Obviously this idea is just hyperthetical, but we wanted to do something similar for real. We decided just simply to set up a vintage clothing buisness called Dolores Vintage.
We had a photo shoot with some of our stock, these photos were kindly taken by my old flatmate Jayde who is a photography student. The photos above are my favourite ones that were taken that day.
If you like the look of dolores you can follow our blog http://www.wearedolores.blogspot.com or we have a facebook fan page you can become a fan of, just sear dolores vintage on facebook.

And just look at those lycra all in ones.
I definately need one!

New Year New Start

So I've decided to set up a new blog for a new year.
The main reason being I was awful at posting in my old blog and still using it hasn't helped me post in it this year which i really need to do!

I haven't posted in my old blog for about 3 months, so theres a bit of a back log of 2 projects worth of stuff that i need to post which I'll try and do asap.
For the meantime though I'll just keep up to date with this term onwards in here.
